The Dale and Tobi Morris

2011 Wintertime Fiddle and Guitar Camp

To be held in Decatur, Texas.

Workshop date is Dec. 27th through Dec. 30th, 2011, 4 days.

Instructors for 2011 are being confirmed at present.

So far, in addition to Tobi and Dale Morris, we have confirmed

Linda Relph, a great Celtic fiddler. Linda is part of the group

"Nine Eights Irish". >

LINDA RELPH has been playing fiddle since becoming enthralled with the instrument during a 1974 trip to Weiser, Idaho, for the National Oldtime Fiddlers´ Contest. Following a year in Ireland at age 15, she became an avid fan of Irish music, and has been playing it ever since. During the 1980s, she won the California Ladies Fiddle Championship four times, and she has twice placed in the top five nationally.

Linda first moved to Dallas in 1990, where she was part of several different bands, including Waifs & Strays, the popular acoustic trio Pegasus Project, and The Killdares, a Celtic-rock band of which she was a founding member. After six years and three albums with The Killdares, she and her husband Chris left Dallas in 2002 to return to her home in northern California. She and Chris started a band called "Nine-8ths Irish", who were one of the most popular traditional Irish bands in the Sacramento area. In early 2011, Linda and Chris decided to make the move back to Texas, and now live in Little Elm, just north of Dallas.

We have also confirmed Dale Morris Jr., past Texas Champion Fiddler,

National Champion and Grand Master's Champion. Dale Jr. has also been

band member with Boxcar Willie, and Marty Stuart. Dale Jr. is presently

working for Ray Price and is also in high demand as studio session player

in the Dallas - Fort Worth area.

We are pleased that Marty Elmore has also confirmed. Marty will be the host for night jamming again, also will teach a supplementary fiddle class each day, after regular classes.

Our plans are to include a wide range of style and tune selection.

Class structure:
Fiddle classes will be divided between Intermediate and advanced.

We have also added a special class for guitar (something new for 2010!)

Fiddle Instructors will rotate between classes throughout the 4 days giving students the benefit of more than one teacher. Students will learn songs of varying degree of style and complexity as well as technical studies (noting and bowing techniques, music theory where needed, back up skills, improvisational skills, etc.)

At present we plan on 2 intermediate fiddle groups, one for the younger set, and one for adults.

There will be one class especially for advanced students ( this will include all ages)

The guitar class will include all ages. We are very exited to add this class.

There will be two areas for jamming each evening and night, after classes, at the Best Western conference room, as well as the Decatur Lion's Club.
On the last night of the workshop we have our big farewell party and jam session. This
will be at the Lion’s Club Bldg. Friends and family are invited to attend.

Cost of the workshop is $350. A $150 non-refundable deposit will be required as part of registration (to be paid by Dec.10, 2011). Balance of tuition will be due no later than
Dec. 22, 2011.

Cost of the workshop is workshop only. As far as lodging, Decatur has several motels, Best Western, Ramada Limited, Comfort Inn, Super 8, Holiday Inn Express, Budget Inn and
others.)

Please reserve early. Registration is limited due to class size restrictions.
Registration deadline is Dec.10, 2011.
