Tobi and I would like to announce our early summer MINI-WORKSHOP for
fiddle, guitar and mandolin with a SPECIAL FOCUS on WESTERN SWING music, ESPECIALLY THAT of BOB WILLS and THE TEXAS PLAYBOYS.

It will be held in Boyd, Texas, Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the
Boyd Community Center

This ONE-DAY workshop is designed for ALL LEVELS.
Fiddlers, as well as guitar and mandolin players, will participate.

Now, I'm sure many of you will have many questions as to how having DIFFERENT INSTRUMENTS paricipating in the same workshop could possibly work.

To explain, I'll begin by saying that this is a workshop for ensemble (group) playing. Every nstrument takes part in a group setting, with each having an important part.

For each song, there will be harmony parts as well as the melody. There will also be suggested back-up, fill lines, on several of the tune selections.
Guitar and mandolin players, as well as taking part in the playing of
melodies, will also play chords, bass lines, etc.

Every player will have an important part, regardless of expertise
level.

In a sense we might call it "our fiddle, guitar and mandolin
orchestra"! All in all, we plan for a full day of lots of playing and
loads of FUN!

We wanted to let all of you know,especially those who have already asked about it, that we are most certainly having this mini-workshop featuring western swing music.
